  4. This document provides late-breaking or other information that supplements 
  5. the Sony PictureGear 4.1 Lite documentation.
  6. Please read this carefully before using the application.

  10. 1. Graphics Formats Supported by PictureGear Lite
  11. -------------------------------------------------

  13. PictureGear supports the following image file formats:
  14. Bitmap, JPEG, TIFF, FlashPix, GIF
  15. Also, images can be converted and saved as the following image file formats:
  16. Bitmap, JPEG, TIFF, GIF
  17.  
  18. Regarding the format such as TIFF or GIF that can contain multiple
  19. images in a file, only one page will be displayed.
  20.  
  21. Some image formats cannot be displayed.  In that case, the design of 
  22. PictureGear will be plain which means not-supporting.
  23.  
  24. Since TIFF format created in PictureGear is in compliance with Ver6.0,
  25. and some applications cannot read the files created in PictureGear.

  29. 2. Connecting To Sony Peripheral Devices
  30. ----------------------------------------

  32. PictureGear Lite only supports devices and accessories with which PictureGear Lite ships.
  33. Memory Sticks that can be used with the serial port adaptor are limited
  34. to those used by Sony camcorders.
  35. Memory Sticks used by other devices are not supported.
  36.  
  37. Images opened by PictureGear Lite are automatically saved in a temporary storage location
  38. on the hard drive, and these temporary files are discarded when the image is closed.  
  39. Therefore, files that you wish to save must be saved in a separate folder.
  40.  
  41. There is no need to install PictureGear Lite more than once.
  42.  
  43. If you have more than one device that supports PictureGear Lite,
  44. follow the steps below to switch between the devices. 
  45. 1) Close PictureGear Lite.
  46. 2) Disconnect the current device from the serial port.
  47. 3) Connect the new device to the serial port.
  48. 4) Start PictureGear Lite.
  49. 5) You are now ready to communicate with the new device.

  51. If you experience communication problems between PictureGear Lite and the device, 
  52. follow the steps below to reset the connection between the two.
  53. 1) Close PictureGear Lite.
  54. 2) Disconnect the serial cable from the device. 
  55.    This resets the communication controller on the device.
  56. 3) Connect the serial cable to the device.
  57. 4) Start PictureGear Lite.

  61. 3. Troubleshooting

  64. If you have problems while using PictureGear Lite you may need to reset the 
  65. application environment. Follow the steps below to reset the environment.
  66. 1) Close PictureGear Lite and restart Windows.
  67. 2) From the Start menu on the Windows task bar click on 
  68.    [Program] -> [PictureGear 4.1Lite] -> [Initialization Program].
  69. 3) Select an initialization method and click "Ok".

  73. 4. Known Problems
  74. -----------------
  75. - If you start another application while PictreGear is running, operation might become slow.
  76.  
  77. - When reformatting or copying images the application may experience problems 
  78.   if there is not adequate storage space available on the target drive.
  79.   Please check that you have sufficient free disk space before performing these operations.

  81. - Attempting to delete a read-only file will cause a confirmation dialog box to appear, 
  82.   but it does not notify the user that the file is read-only.
  83.  
  84. - If you have specified "Large Fonts" in Windows, some dialogs may not be able to show 
  85.   all characters.
